Desert Noir: From Page to Screen

Desert Noir: From Page to Screen brings four authors and two filmmakers to the Twentynine Palms Book Festival on Friday, November 13, at 3:30 p.m. Short readings introduce Daniel Pyne’s Twentynine Palms, J.D. O’Brien’s Zig Zag, Deanne Stillman’s Desert Reckoning and Brian Townsley’s Under a Black Flag. Filmmaker Ondi Timoner, founder of the Joshua Tree International Film Festival, moderates a conversation with the authors about the stories’ origins, screen adaptation and international co-production. Joshua Tree-based filmmaker Christian Camargo joins them with a production perspective. The panel is part of the book festival’s Book-to-Screen initiative, in collaboration with Joshua Tree International Film Festival. It takes place inside Twentynine Palms Community Center at Freedom Plaza, 6547 Freedom Way, Twentynine Palms. Admission is free; advance festival registration is available through Eventbrite.
